• Back in January, I received a nice email from a woman asking me if I took engagement photos.  She happened to get my name from a previous customer and wanted to gift a session to her son and future daughter-in-law.  It is always great to get referrals when you have a small business.  Any message I receive whether I get a booking or not is a reflection of me and the impression I made on someone so I am always thankful for that.

When the bride-to-be reached out to me, she and her fiancé chose Coughlin Park in Winthrop for their engagement session.  I knew Winthrop but I had never been to this exact spot before.  We scheduled to meet on a Sunday afternoon and when I arrived,  D & B were pretty laid back and open to any suggestions I had for the session.  The weather was cold and dreary but despite that I found the location to be a hidden gem for a photographer.  I took a quick glance at the area and chose three different spots to shoot.  This would provide variety and also add some contrast to their images.

When I meet people I am photographing for the first time, I always try to break the ice and get to know them a little bit.  I know that it can be nerve wracking to have a complete stranger taking your pictures so it is important to me and for them to be comfortable.  After a little bit of chatting, I found out they were having a wedding by the water in the fall and chose the location because they had spent some time there together during the course of their relationship.  I liked the fact that the spot they chose was sentimental so it will be nice for them to look back at these photographs and have those memories.

It was without question they had great chemistry together.  I was able to get a lot of natural and candid shots of the two of them.  I will definitely be recommending this spot to others in the future.  Thanks again D & B for meeting me and best of luck with your wedding this fall.
